The Community retrieves the architectural heritage of the old town of Cieza (23/05/2010)

The Ministry of Public Works and Planning, through the Directorate General of Land and Housing, has completed the rehabilitation of three buildings of architectural interest in Cieza, in a project to restore the old part of town that have the carried out renovation work in ten buildings.

The total investment of 271,000 euros has been.

The Director General of Planning and Housing, Antonio Navarro, said this action "recovery project responds to a set of architecturally interesting buildings in the vicinity of the bend that forms the Segura River passing through Cieza," and explained that is "one of the most traditional areas of town, around the Church of the Assumption, built in the eighteenth century."

The director general said the purpose of this type of work, for which the regional government provides aid to local governments, is to preserve the personality of the most traditional places.

The performances in these three buildings have included traditional style recovery of the facades, moldings, cornices, baseboards and balconies, as well as the renewal of the railings and woodwork.

"With these works, in which respects the original character of the buildings and their integration into the environment, complete a project to rehabilitate several historic buildings emblematic ciezano, helping to preserve the architectural identity of the municipality," he concluded Navarro.
