Family finances 439,000 euros for people with mental illness in Cieza (11/05/2017)

The Community allocates 3.7 million to services to improve the quality of life of 441 people with disabilities in the municipality and increases by 7 percent the budget of Social Services

The Councilor for Family and Equal Opportunities, Violante Tomás, and the president of the Mental Health Association of Cieza and Comarca (Afemce), Josefa Ruiz, visited today the rural complex Atalaya and the day center of the association.

Violante Tomás recalled that the Instituto Murciano de Acción Social (IMAS) financed 439,000 euros for the 41 places in the day center and praised the "great work of people with mental illness of the workforce, which carries out the exploitation of La Atalaya ".

In 2016 Afemce won by public tender the management and tourist exploitation of this rural complex, constituted by a shelter of 56 places, rural house of 6 places, classroom of the equipped nature for the implementation of courses and congresses with approximate capacity of 56 people, And park multiaventura and reception Mill of Teodoro.

"Afemce's job placement program is a success story, as it is demonstrating that the enthusiasm and willingness to work of these people serve to overcome barriers and value their other labor capacities, which are many," said the counselor .

The professional profiles are of receptionists and cleaning staff, maintenance and kitchen.

All staff are made up of people with mental illness, except technical tourism staff, labor insertion and management.

The Community this year allocated over 3.7 million euros to subsidize services to improve the quality of life of 441 people with disabilities in the municipality, out of the total of 84 million that the IMAS intended for this group.

Specifically, the Ministry, through the IMAS, this year will subsidize 16 places at the 'Tocaos del Ala' center with 164,000 euros, which provides comprehensive care to the basic personal, therapeutic and sociocultural needs of people with physical disabilities affected by different degrees Of dependency to promote their autonomy.

Likewise, it will allocate 3,026,447 euros to attend to another 124 people with disabilities of the municipality who are assisted in the residence 'Los Olivos' and day centers of the Association Association of Parents and Protectors of Psychic Disabled (Ascopas) and the New Los Albares Foundation.

Likewise, it collaborates in the maintenance of the center of Early Care of the municipality, which is attended by 260 children, with 129,483 euros.

On the other hand, the counselor explained that the Ministry will invest more than 51,000 euros in the care of families and children of the municipality.

Also, it will finance with 359,000 euros the social services of Primary Attention of Cieza, what supposes an increase of the 7.3 percent with respect to the budgeted last year.

The objective of early care is that children with developmental disorders or risk of suffering receive care that enhances their development and enable their personal autonomy.

The Ministry is finalizing the decree of Early Care, which will coordinate health, education and social services and whose objective is to ensure that it is public, universal and free.
