The Murcian Health Service will strengthen the human resources of the area with more specialists
The Ministry of Health, through the Murcian Health Service (SMS), will complete this year 2018 an investment that exceeds 3.3 million euros in the Hospital de la Vega Lorenzo Guirao de Cieza, which will improve and expand its facilities and increase the services provided to the citizens of Cieza, Abarán and Blanca.
The Minister of Health, Manuel Villegas, visited the hospital center today, where he recalled that in 2017 almost 1.7 million euros were invested and that this year the investment will be 1.5 million euros.
Likewise, he advanced that the improvements for the reference hospital of Area IX of Health will continue in 2019.
Among the investments made, the counselor highlighted the "complete renovation" of the hospital's air conditioning and air conditioning system, worth 1.3 million euros, "which puts an end to the discomfort suffered by users years ago, especially hospitalized patients. "
Also, the counselor stressed that the hospital will have two new radiology rooms and emphasized the new endoscopy room, 250 square meters, which will invest 268,000 euros for its conditioning and half a million euros in the acquisition of endoscopes
Extension of the rehabilitation area
During his visit, the Regional Minister of Health checked the "advanced" status of the expansion works of the rehabilitation area, in which the accesses have also been adapted and in which they have invested more than 96,000 euros.
The works include the extension of the rehabilitation treatment areas in 50 square meters plus built surface that will expand the spaces with eight new posts.
In this way, this service will now have 28.
Currently, the rehabilitation area of ​​Cieza Hospital has 440 total meters, including waiting rooms and accesses, of which 235 meters correspond to treatment areas.
Through this extension it has 285 meters of treatment areas and 490 meters total.
On the other hand, to improve the accessibility of the hospital, a new double-leaf automatic door will be installed in the public access to external consultations and the slope of the rehabilitation access ramps and the main entrance will be corrected, reforming these accesses to allow more comfortable slopes and to guarantee accessibility in those two points.
During the year 2017, the rehabilitation service registered 8,675 consultations, of which 3,217 were first consultations and 5,440 revisions.
In the gym, 18,832 physiotherapy sessions were administered to 4,168 patients last year.
More human resources
Manuel Villegas said that investments in infrastructure "are complemented by a reinforcement of human resources."
In this sense, he advanced that in the hospital of Cieza, the Urology, Digestive, Rehabilitation and Radiology Services are reinforced, as well as the Primary Care service of Abarán.
