The Department of Environmental Authorisation last Presidency Single plant biomass in Cieza (30/01/2012)

The plant with an investment of 60 million euros, will generate 16 megawatts of clean electricity through the use of agricultural and forest residues from the mountains

The Ministry of the Presidency envisages the creation of over 1,000 jobs with the construction of a biomass plant in Cieza, an innovative facility that will generate electricity from renewable sources through the use of agricultural and forest residues.

The processing plant biomass, which will include an investment of 60 million euros, will be built over the next two years on a plot of the municipality to meet energy needs, while contributing to the improvement of the environment.

This is explained by the Minister of Presidency, Manuel Campos, after a meeting with Dalkia company director, José Antonio Alonso, CEO of Dalkia in the Region of Murcia, Fidel Saura, and Director of Major Projects of the company, Paul Aledo.

At the meeting, the Minister outlined some of the aspects of the Single Environmental Clearance of the plant, whose proceedings are well underway to start construction soon of it, which will produce 16 megawatts of electricity.

Sobering economic

Campos highlighted the "great economic impact" of this project for the Autonomous Community, which will result in "high investment fees and wealth", as well as the generation of a large number of jobs.

The construction of the plant will involve the use of more than 1,000 people over 24 months, both the construction work, as in thinning operations, cleaning and pruning to the harvesting of biomass.

And, once set up will create dozens of jobs with the dynamics of production and another 300 indirectly.

The head of the Presidential highlighted the benefits of this key initiative in the environment, which reside in the creation of a clean electric power, environment protection, clearing the forest and the profitability of forest residues.

"This project demonstrates the sensitivity of the regional government with the preservation of the environment and renewable energy sector, which will undoubtedly give a boost to the business transcendental in the region and allow the stimulation of other projects in the Community" Fields concluded.
