Cieza The library receives a special mention for his project for the Campaign for Reading Maria Moliner (21/12/2012)

The campaign is made ​​possible by the collaboration between the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport, the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces and the Coca-Cola Foundation Juan Manuel Sainz de Vicuña

The Secretary of State for Culture, Jose Maria Lassalle, with General Secretary of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces, Angel Fernandez Diaz and director of the Coca-Cola Foundation Juan Manuel Sainz de Vicuna, Juan José Litrán today presented the Campaign Awards for Reading Maria Moliner the mayors of Tuéjar (Valencia), Pozoblanco (Córdoba) and Oleiros (A Coruña) in a ceremony held at the National Library of Spain.

The winning of this award, promoted by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport, the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces and the Coca-Cola Foundation Juan Manuel Sainz de Vicuña are endowed with 12,000 euros and a batch of 200 children's books .

It also rewards other 297 projects of many other public libraries across the country.

Winning projects

In this edition have been awarded Tuéjar libraries for the project Junt 's build the library, Together it s built the world in the category of towns with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants.

In the 5,001 to 20,000 inhabitants has won the project Reading not raise walls: 5th edition book fair, the public library Pozoblanco and category from 20,001 to 50,000 the winner has been the library Oleiros by the project reads refreshing.

They have also received a special mention for its quality and good practice projects submitted by municipalities libraries Iurreta (Vizcaya), Castuera (Badajoz) and Cieza (Murcia).

Campaign to encourage reading

The Campaign for Reading Maria Moliner in municipalities with fewer than 50,000 inhabitants is a competition aimed at the locations of these features to reward the best projects or activities to promote reading among all social groups, especially among children and young.

This action encourages the promotion of reading in small towns, places where there are usually very limited resources and poor access to books.

This program has a great strategic importance, as approximately half of the Spanish population resides in towns of less than 50,000 inhabitants, which has a high impact on the territory.

The Campaign for Reading Maria Moliner is done through collaboration between the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport, the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces and, since 2002, has the support of the Coca-Cola Foundation Juan Manuel Sainz Vicuña.

Through this initiative, each year 300 public libraries are awarded lots bibliographic children and youth.

Since 2002, thanks to the collaboration of the Coca-Cola Foundation, is awarded a cash prize to the top three projects.

Since its inception in 1998, the Campaign for Reading Maria Moliner has received a very positive response from the municipalities, having been presented to date about 10,000 projects from more than 2,400 Spanish cities.
