The Plural Left presents an initiative in the House of Representatives to remove the oil Cenajo (02/12/2013)

The initiative of the Parliamentary Group of the Plural Left responds to the request transferred from the United Left-Green Cieza, having manifested in similar vein - and unanimously - the Regional Assembly of Murcia in relation to an initiative of the same political group.

The initiative, which has the form of proposition of law was submitted to the Bureau of the Congress of Deputies, which will rule on its admissibility, last October.

According to José Eduardo Illueca Councilman IU-Greens in the city of Cieza, "it is a very important initiative which we hope will be approved unanimously by all political groups and serve at once, an impetus to a once and for all to be taken seriously which is a vindication of the people of our region for some time, and we witness how pipelines are removed from the bottom Cenajo for peace of all. "

He recalls the eco-socialist councilor, "Platform for the Defence of the Segura River, environmental groups, political parties like IU, farmers, many citizens organized in different organizations, some municipalities in the region, including that of Cieza, have put highlighted the danger posed by the existence of this driving through the Cenajo submerged in the event, perhaps remote but not unrealistic, from breakage, or even a mere crack in the pipeline as it passes under the water. "

For ecosocialists of Cieza, the issue is not, of course, trivial "pipelines under the reservoir constitute a serious risk to public health, for the river environment and agriculture in the region, especially if one considers that we are in an area of relatively high seismicity and that in the event of an earthquake consequences would be aggravated by the possible pipeline rupture. "

In Illueca words, "It is inconceivable to us that has been authorized twice an absurdity of these proportions, when there were reports of the Confederation itself which showed the risks."

"The initiative" - recalled the council - "also has the support of the Regional Assembly of Murcia, which has recently unanimously approved the removal of pipelines Cenajo and we hope that on this occasion all the political parties in Congress support it because it would be difficult to understand another position, though the major parties have accustomed us to easily move his speech depending on the auditorium pronounce it ".

The parliamentary group of the Plural Left specifically asks in its proposal that the pipelines are taken from the waters of Cenajo, "looking for the most suitable alternative for it from public interest criteria, environmental protection and public health, which should prevail over individual interests however legitimate they may be.
