Marina Albiol is committed to lead the European Parliament requests from farmers ciezanos (04/03/2015)

On Wednesday, MEP UI, Marina Albiol, together with the regional deputy of IU-Greens.

José Antonio Pujante, candidate for mayor of Cieza for this training, Saorín Francisco and municipal spokesman Antonio Penalva, met with ciezanos thirty farmers at a meeting organized by COAG-Cieza.

After a brief presentation by the president of COAG in Cieza, Manuel Martinez, and candidate for mayor of the town for IU-Greens, Francisco Saorín, Marina Albiol, addressed in a brief but precise intervention three key issues affecting the Murcia and ciezana agriculture: the Russian veto, the reform of the CAP and the TTIP.

On the Russian veto, Marina Albiol who argued that farmers are victims of irresponsible political decisions ", noting that the aid approved by the EU are only" patch "and advocating that the European Union is no longer the crutch US "because in this way they can recover" normal relations with Russia ".

Concerning the CAP reform criticized the lack of protection and lack of support to professional agriculture and family farms, while large farms are premium, regardless of the different realities that have the Autonomous Communities.

And on TTIP said if signed the so-called Treaty Transatlantic trade and investment with the United States, "the EU is negotiating in secret and without informing the parliamentary groups could scupper efforts by ciezanos farmers to get agricultural products of high quality and increasingly respectful of the environment ";

efforts that have made significant investments to reduce the use of pesticides, streamline operations and reduce water consumption, among others.

For its part, the regional secretary of organization COAG, Francisco Gil, explained in detail the problems that farmers face Murcia, adding to those identified by the MEP the water.

It also provided a folder with the problems and needs of agriculture in Murcia and a package of initiatives to bring the European Parliament, the MEP UI promised to process and to inform those ciezanos farmers respond to them.

After that, half a dozen farmers at the meeting spoke to influence the aforementioned problems, paying special attention to the problem of water for farms irrigated by the Tajo-Segura and the need for aid to mitigate the effects of veto Russian to ciezanas fruits.

On the first one, the regional deputy of IU-Greens, José Antonio Pujante recalled that the training has always maintained the same position in the water theme betting on the maintenance of the transfer to be an addition to necessary social infrastructure, economically and environmentally amortized.

Finally, both representatives of IU as farmers agreed that the issue of water must be removed from the political fray, leaving them in the hands of technicians from different sectors to find the best solution that can reconcile and meet the interests and needs of all sectors and territories.
