The City Council recognizes the work of volunteers Juan Martinez Hurtado Pascual, Antonio Ruiz and Jose Ortiz (22/12/2015)

The Mayor of Cieza, Pascual Lucas, and the Councillor for Social Welfare, Cristina García-Vaso, attended Monday in the classroom Cajamurcia the annual meeting with volunteers and delivered four of them together, the Volunteer of the Year award 2015.

The winners are Juan Martínez, Pascual Hurtado, Antonio Ruiz and Jose Ortiz, members of the senior volunteer computing Social Centre for the Elderly 'The Morericas'.

For this eighth edition of the prize, awarded by consensus and unanimity, it was considered "the great solidarity work of the volunteer group for older people and people with disabilities in the municipality".

On behalf of them, Martinez thanked the City of Cieza for distinction.

Created in 2002, this group of retirees began his career devoting his free time to teach basic computer skills for users of Social Centre for the Elderly 'The Morericas'.

Later, his collaboration extended to the Association of Physically Handicapped Tocaos-wing Angel Soler.

Today his work has extended to organic garden adapted to the users of the Regional Association of Parents and Guardians of intellectually disabled (Ascope).

During the ceremony, an acknowledgment of the Department of Social Welfare neighbors who helped in the campaign to collect non-perishable food, diploma collected more than fifty volunteers were also delivered.

It soon forgotten in Cieza the initiative collected approximately 20,000 kilos of commodities.

Councilman recalled before the volunteers "the great contribution that volunteering has made in Cieza in recent years" and made a new appeal to "favor of altruism and helping others, especially young people, little by little, they are incorporated. "

For its part, the Councillor for Social Welfare took stock of the campaign to collect non-perishable food held during the 27th and 28th of November, "a success that surpassed all expectations of the participating institutions. The color note of the act put a quintet composed music clarinetist Oscar Yepes, Beatriz Jimenez oboist, flutist Andrea Marin, bassoon and horn Juan Estanislao López Gómez, students from the Conservatory of Music Maestro Gomez Villa, who played known pieces by Mozart, Ibert and Abbrev.
