Ecologists in Action calls for responsibility for the new overflow sewage outfall Ascoy-Cieza (16/09/2009)

Ecologists in Action has reported, through a press release, the overflow on the afternoon of Tuesday of the sewage collector-Cieza Ascoy passing through the hamlet of Baratero, at the height of the place known as the "Ventorrillo" .

A fact-also-not the case for the first time since the recent entry into the aircraft, and that poses a serious environmental problem.

The collector connects Ascoy-Cieza wastewater from residential and industrial area of the purification Ascoy Cieza.

Its overflow has caused the sewage has flooded both the parking lot of a nearby restaurant, as some garden plots adjacent to the route of the collector as well as causing a strong and unbearable stench in the environment.

Ecologists in Action believes that this new overflow, in a rainy day weak, evidence of serious deficiencies in infrastructure budgeted nearly 3 million, and calls for taking responsibility from the Local Government and that, in addition to the explanations inexcusable should be made available, put the necessary resources to tackle this type of events that generate a serious medical problem, besides polluting the environment.

Ecologists in Action also calls on the opening of an information point to the causes of poor operation of waste water collection, and to establish the responsibilities that might be.

According to Greenpeace, the new overflow drain, again in the same place and at the same point, along with the many problems that are causing the odors in various areas of the city and which have caused ongoing neighborhood complaints, is a clear example of failure and inefficiency in municipal management debugging and discharged with severe consequences also for the neighbors.

Ecologists in Action notes that the sewage outfall Ascoy-Cieza entered service just a year and a half ago.

Since then the odor and flooding problems have been present, generating a serious problem not only environmental, but also medical and public health.
