In 2019 new dialysis, endoscopy and radiology units will be incorporated and 2.5 million will be invested in improvements in the center
Surgical waiting lists in the health area of ​​Cieza decreased by 42.85 days while patients waiting for an operation decreased by 666. It has gone from 123 days of waiting time for an operation in December 2017 to 80 days in December 2018. On the other hand, the number of patients on hold has gone from 1,550 people to 884.
These are data provided by the Minister of Health, Manuel Villegas, in the visit he made today to the Vega Lorenzo Guirao de Cieza Hospital, where he highlighted the "considerable improvement in waiting list data" and valued the work of professionals " that have made it possible. "
On the other hand, the waiting time to attend consultations with specialists has experienced a decline, with a reduction of 18.43 days, from 55.32 in December 2017 to 36.89 in December 2018.
And with regard to the number of patients waiting for consultations, these stand at 2,545 compared to 3,927 in December 2017. In addition, the number of patients waiting more than 50 days has decreased, from 2,168 to 1,579.
Regarding these results, the director said today that "the objective of the health system is to offer an optimal service, where accessibility, quality and safety prevail, for which we are betting on an efficient management of resources and increasing investments" .
Investments and improvements
During 2019 the investment of more than two and a half million in improvements in the hospital is foreseen, among which are the second phase of adaptation of its facilities, the remodeling of the surgical area and the acquisition of new medical equipment such as mammography and ultrasound.
And an investment of more than one million to equip the new hospital dialysis service approved this week in the Governing Council.
This service also already has a supervisor and other health professionals who will be integrated into this unit, some human resources that will be added to the reinforcement of Gynecology, Cardiology, Digestive, Cardiology and Pediatrics services, as well as the Attention service. Primary of Abarán and Cieza.
While this service is not started, patients are receiving treatment in the unit installed in Abarán, the dialysis center in Molina de Segura or the unit of the Reina Sofía hospital.
Work will also be undertaken this year to improve the operating room, resuscitation area and the surgical day hospital, works that already have a technical project awarded and that will start at the end of 2019 with a budget of 2.5 million. of euros.
The hospital will also have a new digital mammograph this year and will be awarded the project for the expansion of the emergency department and the rehabilitation area.
This last infrastructure, in which 96,000 euros will be invested, will mean an expansion of 50 square meters, which will allow for eight new positions.
Thus, this service will have 28.
It is also planned to increase the activity of digestive endoscopy due to the opening of a new unit that will have 2 rooms, one for preparation and one for recovery, as well as additional spaces for waiting for patients, storage and cleaning of equipment.
In this same line, a new digital radiology room will be inaugurated soon.
In addition, between 2018 and 2022, 3.8 million euros will be invested in two health centers to increase the services provided to the citizens of Cieza, Abarán and Blanca, to which 4.5 million euros will be added. the hospital of Vega Lorenzo Guirao de Cieza that will improve and expand its facilities.
Currently, 591 professionals provide health care in an area that has health centers, three offices and 53,499 health cards.
