Last Thursday, February 14, at 7 pm, at the Siyâsa Museum, the delivery to the NGO took place, represented by its local president and other Red Cross Cieza volunteers.
The collection of food has been made within the campaign called "A book against hunger", which has been carried out in the Museum of Siyâsa in the last month and a half, with the essential collaboration of the Department of Museums.
A similar activity was carried out two years ago through Caritas.
Then, the Cieza City Council decided to deliver to the Association of Volunteers of Siyâsa, all the books / catalogs, left over in their day, of the Museum exhibitions that have taken place during the last almost 20 years.
The campaign has consisted, coordinated between the Department of Museums of Cieza and the Association of Volunteers of Siyâsa, in the delivery of a book of the aforementioned catalogs, in exchange for a Kg or a liter of food not perishable.
The Volunteers of Siyâsa want to emphasize that the success of the activity has been due, in a good way, thanks to the donations, in food and money, of the children who participated in the Saturdays of December, in the workshops of manual works on the Christmas, made in the Siyâsa Museum itself.
The children and the adults who accompanied them voluntarily donated these foods, out of solidarity and thanks for the gratuity of these workshops.
They were made by volunteers of the association with materials provided by the Department of Museums and were a great success of affluence, with more than 100 children participating, and development of manual and artistic skills of the children.
All the food obtained by this has been delivered to the Red Cross Youth of Cieza, in this case, as an act of solidarity with the most needy of which few remember that people at risk of social exclusion have to continue feeding past the Christmas parties, which is when they usually do these food collection campaigns.
This entity will deliver these foods to these people.
All the staff of the Museum of Siyâsa has collaborated, of its own volition, in this campaign and the Association of Volunteers of Siyâsa greatly appreciates it.
Sometimes the donations have been made in money and the Volunteer Association of Siyâsa has bought, always in neighborhood stores, more food.
This year the activity of collecting and distributing food has been done with the Red Cross Youth of Cieza, but in future campaigns we will also do it with Cáritas since both NGOs do a fantastic job and have the appreciation of the Siyâsa Volunteers.
