MINUTES OF THE JURY of the V edition
of the Ciezanos Text Contest / Mariano Camacho Memorial 2019
MEETING on May 6, 2019, in the offices of the Espinardo Campus of the University of Murcia, the members of the jury evaluating the works submitted to the V edition of the CIEZAN STUDIES CERTIFICATE / MARIANO CAMACHO MEMORIAL / 2018, convened by the University of Murcia and the association Club Atalaya / Ateneo de la Villa de Cieza, with the sponsorship of Common Atalayar CB
WHEREAS the works presented under the title "PEACE OF THE LADIES (IN A COMMITTEE OF SANTIAGO BETWEEN 1703-1705)", "PASCUAL SALMERÓN REAL, A WORKING LEADER BETWEEN TWO DICTURES (1927-1945)", "CONJURING FEAR WITH THE WORD (EL CAIMÁN, A LITERARY MAGAZINE IN CIEZA, IN THE SPANISH TRANSITION) "," THE MUSEUM OF THE SPARTO DE CIEZA: LIVING WITNESS OF HISTORY "AND" THE SANTIAGUISTA DE CIEZA ENCOMIENDA (1500-1800): COMMANDERS, LESSOR AND HERITAGE PROPERTY "should be admitted because the five texts cited meet the objectives of the Contest, and all of them show themes about the past and present of the town of Cieza, whether in its historical, political, social or cultural context , contributing in general, in a varied and complementary look on Cieza, to preserve the signs of local identity, which is one of the objectives of this contest that is held in memory of the doctor and humanist MARIANO CAMACHO GARCÃA.
CONSIDERING cheese, the two works entitled "LA PAZ DE LAS DAMAS (IN A COMMITTEE OF SANTIAGO BETWEEN 1703-1705)" and "PASCUAL SALMERÓN REAL, A WORKING LEADER BETWEEN TWO DICTADURES (1927-1945)", are entitled for different merits.
On the one hand, literary creation and social problems come together in the dramatic piece "LA PAZ DE LAS DAMAS (IN A COMMITTEE OF SANTIAGO BETWEEN (1703-1705)"), a work inspired by real events, occurred in an order of the Order Santiago easily identifiable with Cieza, which the author presents by showing signs of an appreciable knowledge of local history. This work follows the guidelines of the baroque theater of the first half of the 18th century.Divided into six days, it accounts for the associated power struggles to the cleansing of blood and the nobility of the people of the town during the first years of the thousand seven hundred, but there are also other topics treated such as love, deception, death. Some of the fourteen characters that appear there are real, being clearly recognizable to lovers of local history, which makes this dramatic text more attractive and suggestive. Among these characters are represented some of the propi
The baroque theater, as well as the period described: the innkeeper, the recovero, the maid, the lady, as well as the presence of the judiciary and the church, through the friars and the bishop.
It has been considered that this text, original and of great literary quality, helps to visualize the role of women, so often forgotten and belittled in local history, which constitutes an act of historical justice.
On the other hand, the work "PASCUAL SALMERÓN REAL, A WORKING LEADER BETWEEN TWO DICTURES (1927-1945)" has a marked local historical interest and shows great methodological rigor, presenting extensive use of historical and bibliographic sources, many of them original and of an obvious personal and local character, which contributes to deepening the history of the local labor movement and its social and political conquests.
Although the title includes the name of a man who participated in the events that are narrated, it is not a biography in the strict sense of the term, but serves as a guiding thread through which the memory of a period is recovered. it covers from 1920, year in which representatives of the working class are incorporated for the first time to the Municipal Corporation of Cieza, until 1945. Politics, history and anthropology merge in the article.
The political avatars that are happening in Cieza as a result of the successive elections are marking the historical and social development of a city that suffers over the years the consequences of unemployment and the successive crises of the esparto industry.
The proclamation of the Second Republic and the consequent establishment of the democratic regime mark social and economic changes in Cieza.
The text constitutes an important exercise in the recovery of local historical memory, through the trade unionist Pascual Salmerón Real, but extensible to a whole group of workers' leaders and a whole social class, the worker, as a mechanism to repair the victims of repression Franco. The bibliography and the press consulted give an account of the objectivity of the analyzed facts, although the article provides a personal, human and personal vision of the passing of events.
WHEREAS, it is also worth highlighting three other papers presented, which provide different views on the local level from various perspectives:
a) The work "CONJURING FEAR WITH THE WORD (EL CAIMÁN), A LITERARY MAGAZINE IN CIEZA, IN THE SPANISH TRANSITION" evocatively evokes the history of a literary magazine, El Caimán, made by young people between 1976 and 1978 in a complex social, cultural and political context, in a Spain on horseback between the Franco dictatorship and the years of the Transition with its new winds of freedom.
In the article, the literary content of each of the three issues appeared in September 1976, No. 1;
April 1977, No. 2 and February 1978, No. 3. This is a well-documented text that claims the importance of this magazine in the social and cultural life of the city, delving into literary criticism and highlighting the experiential legacy of Young people passionate about literature.
A cultural adventure that had its continuity with the creation of the La Sierpe and Laúd Literature Group.
b) The work "THE MUSEUM OF THE SPARTO DE CIEZA: LIVING WITNESS OF HISTORY" is based on the idea that the culture of esparto is one of the most prominent hallmarks of the town and presents a documented study on the work that the Museo del Esparto, created in 2000 at the initiative of the Atalaya-Ateneo de la Villa Club, carries out the recovery and conservation of this important social and cultural legacy.
Following an academic methodology, the author highlights the role of this fiber in our history, from the Neolithic to the present.
It also proposes improvement guidelines for the consolidation of this Museum as a reference in the dissemination and investigation of the heritage it has.
c) The historical research work "THE SANTIAGUISTA DE CIEZA ENCOMIENDA (1500-1800): COMMANDERS, LESSONS AND HERITAGE" provides numerous interesting data on the santiaguista parcel of Cieza during the Modern Age, a period in which this ancient medieval institution of ends Military and oroginary monastic spirit became an honorary entity with economic purposes and noble spirit, which gave rise to a differentiated social structure at hierarchical levels (commander, administrator, agent, landlords and consumers).
In addition, the appointments of the commenders are analyzed in detail, whether by inheritance or services provided, some of the real estate of the parcel, as well as the personal relationships established between its members.
CONSIDERING finally that the five works selected in this fifth edition of the Ciezanos Texts Contest / Mariano Camacho Memorial / 2018 imply a sense of belonging and respect for the past and the identity of Cieza, and that, without prejudice to establishing a categorization in the nominations by the different merits valued in the participants in the Contest, all of them deserve to be distinguished by their contribution to the preservation of local identity in their different aspects,
This Jury, by majority vote, AGREES:
