The Health Advisor visits the hospital, where he also met the new endoscopy room and the surgical area reform project
The new Cieza Dialysis Unit will centralize the care of patients in the health area from the Vega Lorenzo Guirao hospital.
With this service, which will open in October, the 33 patients who are undergoing renal replacement therapy in the health area (serving the municipalities of Cieza, Abarán and Blanca) will be able to receive it without leaving their surroundings.
This service can dialyze a maximum of ten patients per shift and incorporates internal computer management tools that guarantee comprehensive control of the status of patients and their medical records in a space of more than 200 square meters.
The Murcian Health Service (SMS) has invested more than one million euros in this unit, which has ten physical positions simultaneously to continue treatment.
A supervisor, a doctor, three nurses, two assistants and a guard will initially join the service.
The Minister of Health, Manuel Villegas, visited the unit today, where he highlighted the comfort that it means for users to have an integral space for their treatments and stressed that the provision of hemodialysis will mean “better care, closer to their homes and to its environment".
With this project "we fulfill the commitment to serve you in a single space in your own health area".
The head of Health stressed that the opening of this new unit "means a significant change in the quality of the infrastructure from which assistance is provided to patients with chronic kidney disease, since at least three days a week go to this service to improve your health and our commitment has been to guarantee the comfort of these people. "
Hospital improvements
Villegas also met the hospital's new endoscopy room.
In addition, he supervised the plans for the reform of the surgical area that is in the bidding phase, which includes the improvement of the operating room areas, resuscitation and the surgical day hospital and that will begin at the end of 2019 with a budget close to million euros
Throughout 2019, more than 2.5 million euros will be invested in improvements in the hospital, such as the aforementioned remodeling of the surgical area and the acquisition of new medical equipment (mammography and ultrasound, among others).
The actions will end with the second phase of adaptation of its facilities (1.3 million euros) in 2020.
Thus, the hospital has already incorporated a new digital mammograph, the most advanced that exists today, which allows to detect tumors up to 2 mm, with an investment of 327,000 euros, and a new digital radiology room has been incorporated.
In addition, the emergency extension project will be tendered, to provide it with more posts and the assistance circuits will be redesigned to increase its resolving capacity.
Regarding Primary Care, between 2018 and 2022, 2.8 million euros will be invested in the infrastructures of the area, which will result in an increase in the workforce in the health area, with four nurses, a physiotherapist, an assistant Nursing and three administrative.
In this sense, a deep remodeling of the Cieza Este health center is planned.
Currently, 600 professionals provide health care in an area that has four health centers, three offices and 53,949 health cards.
