The fire declared last night in the place of El Menjú, in Cieza, is controlled thanks to the work of the members of the Emergency Civil Protection Plan for Forest Fires in the Region of Murcia (Infomur Plan).
The provisional estimate of the affected area is five hectares, mostly of riverbank vegetation.
Around 7:30 p.m., the 112 Emergency Coordination Center received numerous calls informing of the presence of fire in the area.
Up to 70 troops assigned to the Infomur Plan were immediately mobilized and Level 1 of the emergency was activated.
Throughout the night they worked on its extinction about fifty people and managed to stabilize it.
This morning they have been relieved by another 30 who have managed to control it, that is, isolate and stop its progress and spread within the control lines.
The MU-512 regional road, which connects Cieza and Abarán, was cut to traffic for safety and has already been reopened.
Two houses with three people were also evicted, who were able to return within a few hours.
Firefighters from the Firefighting and Rescue Consortium of the Region of Murcia (CEIS) participated in the extinction tasks;
environmental agents;
land forest brigades;
two helicopters with their corresponding helicopter brigades and extinction technician;
Civil Protection volunteers, responsible for supplies;
as well as Civil Guard and Local Police, responsible for controlling access and order.
