The first plenary session of the Council of Children and Adolescents of Cieza constituted this Friday afternoon the official release of this participation body during the 2019/2020 school year.
This meeting space, which took place in the plenary hall of the City Council of Cieza, embarks on a stage with visibility intentions and returning childhood and adolescence to the epicenter of the municipal debate.
With the commitment to make the Council of Children and Adolescents of Cieza a stable channel of participation inspired by the Convention on the Rights of the Child, where the counselors defend the proposals contained in the assemblies convened in their respective schools.
This will facilitate the collaboration and active participation of children and adolescents in municipal policies, involving them in decision making and making them partakers of these.
To get an idea of ​​the enormous potential of this initiative framed within the Cieza Ciudad Educating project that promotes the Department of Education, the aforementioned council is a body representing childhood and adolescence through which they can collect and channel their opinions, needs, concerns and proposals;
and promote the knowledge, dissemination and exercise of the rights and duties of childhood and adolescence.
It will also be responsible for identifying the needs of this segment of the population and determining the degree of satisfaction of those that are essential for their healthy development;
and promote the participation of children and adolescents at all levels of local life, to address issues and issues that concern them, among other issues.
In the first plenary session, which was attended by councilors María Ramos, Marta Sánchez and Melba Miñano, the counselors addressed the realization of an environmental awareness and awareness campaign and Children's Day programming.
Finally, the council members joined the proposal made by UNICEF to the city councils, on the occasion of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of Universal Children's Day, requesting that the building of the Municipal Library Father Salmerón be illuminated in blue.
