The renovation project of the sanitation network in the Fixed Machine Avenue and the RM-B19 road that aims to end bad smells in the municipality have started this Monday.
This work was tendered by Aguas de Cieza, a mixed company in the town of which the City of Cieza owns 51%.
The government team headed by Pascual Lucas began to look for the solution to this problem in its first year as responsible for the local administration, with the clear objective of eliminating the bad smells coming from the Ascoy emissary, and that crosses the city until reaching The treatment plant.
But this work that has begun, is only one of the solutions to end this annoyance, so from the Municipal Government numerous efforts have been made.
On the one hand, the renovation of a part of the existing collector, which runs along the Avda. Of the Fixed Machine and the RM-B19, and on the other, the construction of a new layout of the collector in the Los Prados area.
This infrastructure is a high cost, and although the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia is responsible for part of it, since the City of Cieza managed with Aguas de Cieza SA the renovation of the 285 ml stretch.
This section is deficient and has an aged diameter that runs along the RM-B19, with reduced capacity in Avda. Del Rocío (urban area).
Once the contracting process was carried out by Aguas de Cieza, SA, the works were awarded for an amount of € 193,637.54 (the basic bidding budget of € 376,872.17), to Construcciones Ruiz Alemán, SA .
The project of the work of the section of the collector will be completed within 10 weeks, which will improve the serious problem of odors in this area, since it will reduce the residence time of wastewater in the collectors until they arrive at the WWTP .
On the other hand, and once the agreement with the CARM was closed months ago regarding the remaining tranche, the City Council granted the permits and the regional administration also approved the necessary project so that the works can be publicly tendered.
This administrative process is in the bidding phase.
The local government demonstrates with this work its commitment to solve the problem of bad odors in Cieza despite the fact that it is an infrastructure that corresponds largely to the Autonomous Community.
Municipal sources assure that "if CARM does not fulfill its responsibility, it will be the city council that will finance the remaining part of this necessary work, which has been claimed by the cezanos."
