This is considered by its coordinator in Cieza, Francisco Saorín, who has been optimistic about the dialogue table that the Government has established around the problem of agricultural prices for the countryside.
In a press release, the coordinator of IU-Greens in Cieza, Francisco Saorín, has proposed to establish by law a "minimum" price for farmers in the field, based on production costs, and with the aim of "making profitable to agriculture. "
"With this regulation by law we would avoid the ruin of the farmers and the abuse of the large distribution," added the coordinator of IU-Greens in Cieza, who said that this regulation must be carried out annually "depending on the costs of production".
In this sense, Saorín considers that it is "absolutely necessary" that "when a farmer takes his products to the warehouse he must know the minimum price that he will receive for them, because year after year the price of diesel oil and that of phytosanitary products rises but the price of agri-food products always falls. "
At the same time, he considers that the agricultural market must be intervened in this way to "guarantee the profitability" of agricultural and livestock farms, "because the future of our peoples depends heavily on them, as is the case of Cieza."
"It is a perversion to think that the agricultural market can be self-regulating because, year after year, we see how they are closing farms and livestock for the ruinous prices," says Saorín.
Therefore, "we must intervene to end the price volatility and assure the professionals of the field a minimum price for their products so that they can continue to produce high quality food and generate economic fabric in our villages," he said.
I support government negotiations with large stores and agrarian unions
On the other hand, Saorín has been optimistic about the dialogue table that the Progress Government of Spain has established around the problem of agricultural prices for the countryside. "
"Given that the food products market is increasingly monopolized by the five major distribution groups of Mercadona, Día, Alcampo, Carrefour, Corte Inglés and Lidl lso- foodstuffs, sometimes the price with which the families are going to buy food, while the small farmers and ranchers of this country are increasingly defenseless for prices at the origin of the field, "recalled the leader of IU-Verdes.
"Cieza, an eminently agricultural population, needs fair prices for farm products. Hence, we have received with optimism the manifestation of the Ministry of Agriculture" to open a dialogue between the large areas of food distribution with the Trade Unions of farmers and ranchers in Spain, resulting in a totally new initiative in the history of the management of Spanish agriculture that a state administration has entered so thoroughly in the issue of agricultural prices, said the mayor of Consumption of the city of Cieza.
"Negotiate minimum prices, prohibit sales at losses in large stores, that the price of the product also appears on the supermarket price cards ..., are claims of consumers who want fair prices when they go to buy the supermarket fruits and vegetables, and of the agricultural producers that do not want that the speculation of the great distributors throw the prices in origin ", has specified.
Finally, Saorín has called on consumers, farmers and ranchers to mobilize in defense of their interests and "support the Government for fair agricultural prices."
