The mayors of Abarán, Blanca and Cieza, Jesús Gómez, Pedro Luis Molina and Pascual Lucas, respectively, have asked the Minister of Health of the Autonomous Community of the region of Murcia, Manuel Villegas, a quick intervention with the rehabilitation patients they carry months waiting to be attended.
The councilors of the municipalities of the Vega Alta have held a meeting with the head of Health and with the manager of the Murcia Health Service to gather information about the situation created by the circumstance that more than 800 rehabilitation patients of the Hospital de la Vega Lorenzo Guirao were not included in the waiting lists and, therefore, did not have their medical appointment, being deprived, in all these months, of the corresponding medical treatment.
At that meeting, they have moved their concern about the situation that these patients are experiencing, which, after several months without getting an appointment, many of them have verified that they have been assigned to them by November 2020. In this regard, they were urged to the regional authorities to anticipate the times of these appointments, as well as that more resources are allocated to normalize this service and others that are objectively subject to improvement.
Beyond the clarification of the appropriate responsibilities, mayors have been concerned that mechanisms and protocols for patient management are established much more effective and transparent than those currently applied.
Finally, the mayors of Abarán, Blanca and Cieza have expressed their commitment to public health and specifically to the Vega Lorenzo Guirao Hospital, so that they can provide the best health services to the inhabitants of this health area.
