The pandemic is already affecting the economy and employment, the month of March at the national level has been the worst in history.
In our town, the pandemic has cut the positive streak and has brought negative data, as unemployment increased by 57 people in relation to the previous month.
Thus, it is evident that despite the negative data, our city has managed to cushion the devastating effects of the worst month in history.
The agriculture and industry sectors have cushioned the situation and created jobs, however many have been destroyed in construction and in the services sector, the latter sector which has been punished by the suspension of activities in the Cieza FLORACIÓN Tourism Plan .
In year-on-year terms, despite the adverse context, Cieza continues to create jobs, since March 2019 closed with 2,324 unemployed and March 2020 did so with 2,304, which is a positive figure of 20 more people who are working.
And if we compare with the year 2015, before the change of government in Cieza, the data at the end of March 2015 was 3,101, which means that despite being in the worst month in history, in Cieza there is more employment now than in the year 2015 when the PP governed.
Given this situation, the socialists of Cieza consider that thanks to the greater diversification of the economy that the municipal government has encouraged, we will overcome this conjunctural crisis caused by the pandemic that already affects more than 200 countries with great speed.
