Municipal sources of the Cieza City Council recall that the BOE of March 18, 2020 publishes Royal Decree-Law 8/2020, of March 17, on extraordinary urgent measures to face the economic and social impact of COVID-19, highlighting the moratorium on the payment of mortgage payments.

The Consistory informs that it maintains open for the citizens an information service on this exceptional measure adopted by the current state of alarm.Due to this state of alarm in which we are living, the Official State Gazette of March 18, 2020 publishes Royal Decree-Law 8/2020, of March 17, on extraordinary urgent measures to face the economic and social impact of the COVID-19.Chapter I articulates a series of measures to support vulnerable workers, families and groups, which are particularly affected by current circumstances.

Thus, measures are adopted to guarantee home assistance for dependent people, to extend protection in the energy and water supply fields, as well as in the provision of telecommunications services.

The protection of self-employed workers is also strengthened and a moratorium on the payment of mortgage payments for particularly vulnerable groups is established.This RD-law adopts an urgent measure aimed at ensuring the protection of mortgage debtors in a vulnerable situation after the approval of Royal Decree 463/2020, of March 14, thus preventing them from being evicted from their homes for not being able to pay your mortgage payments due to this health emergency situation.Article 7 of Royal Decree-Law 8/2020, of March 17, establishes the following: Article 7.

Mortgage debt moratorium for the acquisition of habitual residence.

Measures are established to procure the moratorium on the mortgage debt for the acquisition of the habitual residence of those who suffer extraordinary difficulties in attending to their payment as a consequence of the COVID-19 crisis, from this article to article 16 of this royal decree- law, both included.

"Moratorium applications may be submitted from the day following the entry into force of this royal decree-law, that is, from March 19, 2020.
