The works, awarded for an amount of about 853,000 euros, 80 percent co-financed with Feder funds and the remaining 20 percent by the Tourism Institute, include among its main actions the arrangement of the pavement, slopes and gutters; the improvement of the bicycle lane in the Los Prados area and the installation of a metal pedestrian and bicycle walkway of about 40 meters in length on the Rambla del Judío, taking advantage of the piles that supported the previous railway bridge.
The action also includes the provision of several reception and rest areas, the installation of signage and signage, and the planting of more than 700 trees, including carob trees, acacia trees,mulberry trees and pines.It is the first phase of a new greenway that, in successive stages, will also pass through Jumilla and Yecla to connect the Region of Murcia with the Valencian Community, towards Villena, through a 71-kilometer route.This work is going to suppose an important support at a tourist, natural and environmental level and, in short, for the whole economic development of the area.
