"Many people from Cezanne have placed their hopes at this table, because only from unity and consensus will we be able to face the economic and social challenge we are facing with guarantees of success," said the orange local spokesman, Óscar Verdejo.Ciudadanos has asked for "maximum speed in the work of the Economic and Social Reactivation Table", and Verdejo added that "we are going to put all the meat on the grill to try to reach the first conclusions in September".
The table has four working groups that will study the proposals to apply in unemployment and risk of social exclusion due to COVID-19; self-employed, business, agriculture, culture and tourism; administrative simplification, conciliation and co-responsibility; and lastly, health security. The spokesman for Citizens has also stressed that the priority proposals of his group will be "the preparation of a consensus budget for this exercise, which includes a Citizen Reactivation Plan endowed with more than one million euros." This plan will include items to reactivate consumption and promote both maintenance and the creation of new jobs, as well as the consolidation of the tax reductions that Citizens have already implemented, such as the exemption from the public highway occupancy rate or the weekly market, as well as the Works and Construction tax.
"We must activate the development of new industrial land as soon as possible, as well as initiate the major interventions contemplated in the General Municipal Planning Plan to encourage private capital investments, and with it, the creation of employment and wealth",Verdejo explained. The spokesman added that "we are confident that opening this table is the basis of the necessary change that our city requires, since Cieza stood for years on the starting line of economic and social progress", and considers that "this crisis can become an opportunity to start changing the failed policies of so many years.
