Saorín, Councilor for Works and Infrastructures of the Cieza City Council recalls that this intervention, for the amount of 272,800 euros, completes the actions carried out in the neighborhood during the last legislature. The improvement works in the San José Obrero neighborhood were completed last week.
Actions that were carried out in the streets of San Carlos Borromeo, La Paz, Jacinto Benavente, Ricote, Frutos Vives, Arrixaca and Plaza de Gibraltar. In a press release, the Councilor for Works and Infrastructures of the Cieza City Council, Francisco Saorín, explained that this action completes the one carried out during the last legislature in this popular neighborhood.
Specifically in the roundabouts of the "Cheap Houses" and in the streets Fernando III el Santo, Manuel de Falla, Andrés Segovia, Gregorio Marañón and Camino de Murcia-Sanz Orrio, among others. The works, now completed, began in October 2019 with a completion period of four months, so they had to have finished on January 31 of this year; However, due to various problems presented by the winning company, the term had to be extended until March 31.
To which it must be added that the beginning of the state of confinement as a result of the pandemic of Covid-19 forced its paralysis when there were a couple of weeks left to complete it.
Finally, after the resumption of the works, the work has finished. The pavement of the sidewalks of the streets in which the work has been carried out, 2 meters in average width, was made up of terrazzo slabs with a pill surface finish, which over time became very worn, making it a floor quite slippery, in addition, many of them were broken, which recommended its replacement. To this, we must add the need to modify the grade of the pedestrian route due to the formation of fords in garages and the lack of trees throughout the road.
As for the pavement of the roads, it had numerous deficiencies, potholes and holes, which made it difficult for vehicles to circulate in the area. The councilor of Works has specified that practically "in the entire neighborhood the sidewalks have been changed; in Frutos Vives and half of La Paz street the road has been paved and Jacinto Benavente has been pedestrianized with cobblestones.
As for San Carlos Borromeo, it is planned to change the direction of traffic, placing a traffic light on Camino de Murcia ".
Likewise, Saorín highlighted that "with the improvements introduced by the winning company, the Plaza de Gibraltar has been paved, an action pending for many years that could not be done before due to lack of financial resources."Finally, Saorín explained that the project of the works, which have already been completed, was valued by the municipal technician writing it at 319,999.99 euros, being awarded to Transportes y Triturados de Murcia, SL for 272,800.55 euros, which it has meant a saving of 47,199.44 euros that will be invested in other works, and with a warranty period of one year from the date of the receipt.
