According to a statement, "the City Council is faced with the duties done to reopen facilities and restart services after a late summer full of uncertainty due to the wave of coronavirus infections in the region."The City Council has established the security protocols against Covid-19 in all its facilities and services in a scenario in which at the moment the number of infections in the municipality remains with 23 cases. The different councils that make up the local government began to work a month ago to prepare this new course, considered by all as the beginning of a new stage, in which "normality" has not yet arrived because it has not yet been able to stop the coronavirus pandemic.
On the contrary, the data released by the competent health authorities are more worrying every day in the Region of Murcia, so that local administrations, despite not having health competencies, have been forced since this health crisis began, to face complex situations to overcome this situation whose consequences are being devastating.Local measuresThe council has established all the protocols in schools, municipal facilities such as study rooms, sports services, or the buildings themselves where administrative procedures are carried out, such as the town hall, the library, museums, social services, etc.The Department of General Administration led by María Jesús López continues with the work begun after the end of the State of Alarm to communicate the security measures in said buildings and provide the necessary elements for this, such as the placement of hydroalcoholic gel dispensers and screens, delimitation of social safety distance with stickers on the floor, information with the recommendations of regional authorities on posters, distribution of masks to workers, etc.Likewise, this task was also carried out in the shops and hotel establishments of the city, within the campaign that the Department of Commerce, also a portfolio of the councilor María Jesús López, carried out with the start of commercial activity in May.Measures not to lower your guardPascual Lucas, councilor of the municipality, took part a few days ago in the meeting of mayors held with the president of the CARM and the Minister of Health in which they spoke about updated information on the Covid situation and the latest measures adopted for the prevention of the pandemic and the start of the school year.In this telematic meeting, emphasis was placed on the difficult situation that the region is going through and the new wave of coronavirus, which has arrived earlier than expected in the entire country.Among the recommendations, it was established that those over 65 years of age stay at home, the reduction of events and the non-organization of new events in the localities, not attending crowded places, being strict with social gatherings, not being able to exceed these more than 6 people, and of course the mandatory use of masks. For his part, Mayor Pascual Lucas says that "it is very important that we heed the measures of the regional and national health authorities, as well as the recommendations of the local body to guarantee the safety of people and fight against the harmful consequences of this crises, such as the loss of life, the economic ones and the decrease in jobs that will worsen as the weeks go by.
"Lucas insists that, "despite the fact that the number of infections in Cieza is stable, we cannot take any further steps backwards, and as we are not aware of the horrible consequences, we are going to live an even more difficult stage than the one we have been living since March, therefore we must not lower our guard.
