The Councilor for Health and Public Health of the Cieza City Council explains that the Ministry of Health has launched the campaign "I get vaccinated.
This year I make a difference."The City Council, and at the request of the sanitary managers of Health Area IX (hospital and health centers), will collaborate with the assignment of fixed or mobile spaces to carry out the influenza vaccination campaign; The objective is to establish fixed places for this need attached to health centers, in order to avoid crowds in said centers and thus continue to implement reinforcement, control and social distancing measures against covid-19.The Ministry of Health has launched this Monday the campaign "I get vaccinated.
This year I make a difference" to reinforce vaccination against influenza and with the aim of avoiding complications and deaths in vulnerable people and avoiding an overload in the health care system.
the coexistence of the flu epidemic with the covid-19 pandemic.Through a press release, the Councilor for Health and Public Health of the City Council of Cieza, Francisco Saorín, explained that the Ministry of Health has made the campaign material available to the Autonomous Communities, aimed at making citizens aware of the importance that risk groups get vaccinated against the flu.
This will be disseminated through social networks and the website of the Ministry.
The hashtag #GripeYoMeVacuno will be used and it will be available in the co-official languages.Likewise, Saorín has specified that the campaign is aimed at achieving greater vaccination coverage, reaching 75% in people over 65 years of age and professionals from health and social health centers, and 60% in pregnant women and people with chronic pathology. In order to achieve this increase, for the first time, the Ministry this year made an extraordinary purchase of 5 million doses of influenza vaccines to reinforce the vaccination campaign carried out by the Autonomous Communities.Last year, coverage of 53.5% was achieved in those over 65 years of age, 40.5% in health personnel and 48.5% in pregnant women.
With this, 26% of hospitalizations, 40% of ICU admissions and 37% of deaths attributable to influenza were avoided.Saorín has revealed that another of the novelties of this year is that the start of vaccination is earlier than the first half of October (last year it began in the third week).
It will begin to vaccinate institutionalized elderly people and personnel from health and social health centers and will continue with the rest of the priority groups. Finally, the Councilor for Health and Public Health of the City Council of Cieza has stressed that the flu vaccine prevents the disease caused by the flu virus and has an impact on reducing hospitalization and mortality in people with more risk of serious disease and consequently also reduces the care burden on the health system, so in the context of the covid-19 pandemic, it is even more important to increase vaccination coverage against influenza in people in whom vaccination is recommended.
