 Sources from the Department of Agriculture of the City Council of Cieza report that the file for the IGP (Protected Geographical Indication) "Peach of Cieza", after its previous passage through the Ministry of Agriculture, is already in Brussels.The Commission's examination period to register this quality seal is now open and, if all goes well, the Ciezano peach will be able to be marketed with the PGI worldwide from the next season.What is already assured is that, as a minimum, the peach from Cieza will already be able to be sold in Spain during the next season under the Protected Geographical Indication brand.At the beginning of October, the BORM published the favorable decision of the regional council for the application for the definitive registration of the "IGP Peach of Cieza" in the Community Registry of Protected Designations of Origin and Protected Geographical Indications.Once the regional procedure was passed, all the documentation was already traveling to the Ministry of Agriculture for processing and sending it to the European Commission.

The latter has already received the file and will publish the request in the DOUE (Official Journal of the European Union) once the filter of three months of allegations has passed.However, with the Transitory National Protection Order published by the Commission, the next campaign, at a minimum, will already be marketed under the 'Peach of Cieza' brand throughout Spain.
