| "The increase in social investment will have a direct impact on thousands of citizens of Cieza and Murcia" | The Draft General State Budget for 2021, arising from the agreement finally reached by the two government partners, United We Can and PSOE, reflects the public accounts with a more social character in recent history.
In the words of Piedad Abellán, current spokesperson for Podemos-Cieza, "the strong social bias of these General Budgets will have direct repercussions for thousands of citizens of Cieza and Murcia".
Thus, for example, "the increase in spending on pensions, which will make it possible to maintain the purchasing power of the contributory ones and considerably improve that of the non-contributory ones affects us more than in other territories, given that the amount of pensions, in Murcia and particularly in Cieza, it is below the national average ". But not only pensioners will benefit, since "the strong increase in the allocation for scholarships also favors us in a very special way, since its concession is linked to per capita income and this, in Murcia, is lower than the rest of the country, which means that many of our young people can only study if they receive these grants ".
The Budgets also include measures to improve the procedure and perception of the Minimum Vital Income, incorporated at the last moment of the negotiation due to pressure from United We Can, and as Piedad Abellán recalls, "in Murcia there are no less than 20,000 applicants for this entry".
Not to mention the aid to dependency, for which these Budgets foresee a 34% growth in loans provided by the central State, "which will allow, we hope,to alleviate the shameful situation in our region in this matter, with an inoperative regional executive and where we see, with pain, how many applicants die without even being evaluated or, if they are, without actually receiving the aid ". Among the agreements reached, it is worth highlighting "the regulation of rental prices, which tackles the housing problem head-on and bravely, as never before".
A last-minute addition, also due to the requirement of United We Can, "and which is set to have a huge impact in a region where rental prices have skyrocketed in recent years, being around two-thirds of their income, what Murcian families use to pay rent for their habitual residence, on average ". The rest of investments also grows for our region above the average for the country.
Some of the largest investments are planned for the regeneration of the Bay of Portman, for the decontamination of the Mar Menor, for the improvement of both road and, above all, rail communication networks, to which is added "an important it is committed to the construction of desalination plants, which will significantly increase the water autonomy of our region ".
All these investments, together with the economic recovery of the middle and popular classes "will allow to lay the foundations of a process that will be long in time, but which is essential: a change in the production model that does not make our economy depend only on tourism.
, of the construction and of the field, diversify it from a triple environmental, industrial and technological perspective; this is the challenge for the next few years.
" On the other hand, "the commitment of these Budgets for the Navantia shipyard in Cartagena must be valued very positively, which thanks to the construction of the Submarine S80 guarantees the continuity of more than 2000 jobs". In short, "these are very good budgets for the Murcia region, which will benefit from its games to a greater extent than in other territories." And to those who criticize them for tax increases, Piedad reminds them that "when more taxes are required from those who have more income or assets but not from others, it is not possible to speak of a tax increase, but of tax justice, which is , by the way, a mandate of our Constitution ".
