The Department of the Environment held last Tuesday the second meeting of the Local Council for the Environment, municipal sources report. The meeting that due to the current health circumstances caused by SARS-CO V-2, and considering a collective risk to health, had to be held through videoconference on the ZOOM platform. On the agenda, various aspects were dealt with, such as the definitive constitution of the council with the representatives and alternates of the eleven groups and associations that meet the requirements to form part of it, as well as the political groups with representation in the consistory. In addition, the order of the day included one of the points that has been generating the most debate in recent months in the municipality, as is the case of the licenses for the installation of macro-farms.
At this point on the agenda, the members of the council were exposed to the latest advances in this file, once the amendment number 11 of the PGMO was approved by the Plenary Assembly, which regulates and restricts in a very important way the possibility of installation.
One of these types of farms in the municipality, as was already exposed to the platform. In addition, the two councilors of the councilors most affected in the processing of the file attended the meeting as guests, who responded to the questions that were formulated by the attendees and who tried make clear the security that we have regarding the fact that these farms will not generate a negative impact on the residential, agricultural and tourist sectors as they cannot be affected precisely by the location restrictions established and introduced in the modification approved. In another vein, it was also reported on the beginning of the works to improve the natural heritage of the municipality provided for in the Strategic Plan for Urban Ecology and Biodiversity and that will involve the remodeling and improvement of trees and areas green on Ram ny Cajal avenue, whose works have begun this week and will be 80% co-financed by FEDER as they are included and provided for in Cieza's Sustainable and Integrated Urban Development Strategy. Finally, the council closed with the commitment to hold a meeting in early 2021 to address various issues raised by the council's associations and groups.
