The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia, the Local Police of Cieza, Civil Protection and a forestry agent of the municipality rescued last Saturday, day 9, in the San Pablo de Cieza ravine, to five young people who became disoriented while hiking.

The action began at around 7:00 p.m., when the Civil Guard was alerted to the call for help from a group of young residents of Cieza who, attracted by the snow, undertook a route to climb to the mountain.

After several hours of walking, they became disoriented and could not return to the starting point.

Due to weather conditions and the anticipation of a sharp drop in temperatures, the Benem rita, the Cieza Local Police, Civil Protection and a forestry agent organized an immediate location operation.

After contacting one of the youths by phone, the GPS location could be received, which made it possible to narrow down the area to start a raid.

Two hours after starting their search, around 9:30 p.m., the rescuers reached the San Pablo ravine where they had been trapped and located them unharmed.

From there, they began the descent down the slope of the ravine to the starting point and their transfer to police stations where their parents were waiting for them.

The five young people, four of them minors, with little knowledge of the mountain, became disoriented with the sunset and began to walk, without knowing it, in the opposite direction to the one they had taken to climb, which which led them to a ravine with difficult access, where they were trapped because they could not advance.

The joint action, developed by agents of the Civil Guard, Local Police of Cieza, Civil Protection and a forestry agent allowed the successful rescue of the young people.
