The Minister of Family and Equal Opportunities, Violante Thomas, with the mayor of Cieza, Pascual Lucas Diaz, today visited the residence for people with disabilities 'Los Olivos' centers and day of the Regional Association of Parents and Guardians of Mentally Handicapped (Ascope) and the New Foundation Los Albares.
The Ministry, through the Instituto Murciano Social Action (IMAS), 3,026,447 euros this year intended to serve 120 people with disabilities in this county.
The Community is working to expand the number of places and support services to people with intellectual disabilities and their families in order to obtain the highest quality of service.
At the beginning of 2016 it had 3,651 seats and between April and May, will add 228 new positions, up to 3,879.
Thomas Violante said "the merit of the work carried out by people with intellectual disabilities in occupational workshops", such as 'Los Olivos', which has 42 seats and is funded with 2,261,367 euros.
In the center provides specialized care aimed at maintaining the capabilities and the prevention of deterioration and the continuous improvement of functional and social autonomy.
To do this, combine rehabilitation, occupational and recreational, performing in a group, with the aim of "improving the quality of life of the whole family," said the minister.
Meanwhile, the day center of the regional Association of parents and protectors of mentally handicapped (Ascope) has 38 seats with a budget of 378,155 euros, and will expand more in order to meet the demand of the center.
The day center for people with intellectual disabilities of the New Foundation Los Albares has 40 seats, which finances the Imas with 389,925 euros.
