The Department of Women and Equal Opportunities reports that this week took place in the Social Center of Las Morericas a talk-raising on gender violence aimed at users of these facilities and delivered by technicians CAVI (psychologist, legal advisor and social worker).
In this talk the issue of gender violence suffered by older women and how to break this situation was discussed.
Say from the CAVI "These women do not usually identify being battered as they carry a lifetime suffering from this situation, because the learnings received through a sexist education, where women have to protect and care for the family being subjugated to the decisions and control of man, living in a power relationship where the woman occupies a position of submission that does not know break, having been internalizing these behaviors (humiliations, insults, slights, humiliations, isolation, economic dependence, etc.) as natural and not as an abuse. "
They add that "consequence of a whole life suffering abuse, older women degenerate in neuropsychological diseases (associated with the behaviors of the relationship with your partner, such as anxiety, depression, sleep disorders, etc.)".
With this talk was intended to inform the older population that can leave an abusive relationship at any age, existing services and resources available for their protection, recovery and breakdown of the relationship.
