The Ministry of Health allocates 1.4 million to the construction and fitting of these rooms throughout the network of hospitals
The Hospital of the Vega Lorenzo Guirao de Cieza will have a white room of pharmacy that will allow the production of personalized medication and that will be put into operation once the process of training of the sanitary professionals is finished.
The infrastructure "has the latest technology applied to this type of facilities and with it we will be able to prepare customized medication for patients, thus improving the quality of care and safety," explained the managing director of the Murciano Service (SMS), Francisco Agulló, during the visit he made to the Cieza hospital together with the director of the Health Area, Carlos Arenas, and his management team.
These types of infrastructures, also known as clean or controlled rooms, are built to meet demanding control and safety requirements to ensure their airtightness and asepsis, sufficient air renewal and filtration and secure access systems between Other aspects.
Thus, in these rooms, Agulló said, "the concentration of particles contained in the air is carefully controlled to avoid external contamination, in addition to other important parameters such as temperature, humidity and pressure."
The new infrastructure will be used to improve the pharmaceutical supply in the hospital environment, specifically to the preparation of sterile drugs, mainly used in parenteral nutrition and cytostatic drugs used in cancer treatments.
Adapted space
To this end, an adapted space has been built in which two rooms have been set up for the placement of laminar flow hoods, a room for the processing of the products thereof, a laboratory for pharmacotechnics and redosification and the necessary auxiliary spaces.
In this case, in addition, an area dedicated to the dispensing of medicines to patients outside the hospital has been executed.
The white room of the hospital of Cieza has had an investment of 235,000 euros and its design has been made in coordination with the General Direction of Planning, Research, Pharmacy and Citizen Attention of the Ministry of Health.
The counseling allocated 1,460,084 euros between the years 2015 and 2017 to the construction and adaptation of white rooms pharmacy throughout the network of hospitals of the SMS.
At present they already have white rooms adapted to the European standards of good practices and the ISO quality standards eight of the nine hospitals in the health areas of the Region, leaving only pending the construction and adaptation of this infrastructure in the Virgen Hospital Of the Castle of Yecla, construction that will be licited soon.
