This Saturday 18 February, from 20 hours, the Capitol Theater hosts the 1st Concert of Music Holy Week of Cieza in charge of the Band of Music Santa Cecilia de Sorbas (Almeria).
It is one of the most important national music bands in terms of performance of cofrade music, and whose performances in Holy Week processions perform in points as diverse as Murcia, Almería, Jerez or Malaga capital where it accompanies one of the Brotherhoods, the hope of La Esperanza.
Founded in 1982 under the name of "Santa Cecilia" Music Band Association, it is composed of 80 components at present.
The great number of performances that have made throughout its history related to both the processional marches and other musical genres, makes it one of the bands with more projection Almería in and outside the province of Almeria, as it has acted in Towns and villages throughout Andalusia, as well as Murcia, Alicante or Cuenca.
His participation in two important musical events such as the XII International Contest "Villa de Aranda" of Aranda de Duero (Burgos) in 2011;
And the 130th International Music Band Contest "Ciudad de Valencia" 2016.
It has offered concerts of processional marches in almost all the churches and theaters of Almeria.
In the rest of Andalusia he has performed concerts in Jerez de la Frontera, in the Gran Teatro de Córdoba, in the Isabel la Católica Theater and in the Church of Santo Domingo de Granada.
In Málaga he has performed at the Teatro Cervantes, Sala Gades and Sala Falla at the Conservatorio Superior de Música, and in Seville he has performed at the Royal Atarazanas, in the Church of San Nicolás de Bari and twice in the Basilica Of the Macarena.
Apart from its community, it is possible to emphasize two concerts in the Murcian capital, concretely in the Church of the Carmen and in the Theater Romea.
Also highlight his own annual concert of processional marches that has been taking place in Sorbas since 1996 and in which he has paid tribute to great composers such as Ricardo Dorado, Eloy García, José Vélez and Manuel Marvizón.
It also has two albums edited by the prestigious label Pasarela and one recorded live during his
Concerts of Cuaresma in 2010. Also, it has collaborated in several discs edited by the Association of HH and CC of Almería.
Currently directed by Ismael Cabezas Muñoz, the band will offer a concert that will be a journey from the deepest of the Andalusian processional music to the processional music that we can enjoy in the Holy Week of Cieza today.
