Eldomingo August 27th will be held the traditional Race of Crazy Cars organized by the Cultural Association Los Dormis and the City of Cieza on the occasion of the patron saint festivities in honor of St. Bartholomew.
The activity was presented Wednesday at a press conference by the Councilor for Culture, Maria Ramos, and representatives of the collective, Antonio Gomez and Juan del Baño.
The event aims, among other objectives, to contribute to the dynamization of patron saint festivities and promote the image of the municipality.
The main novelty is that the participation will be completely free from this edition. On the other hand, the cash prizes that go to the section of originality are increased significantly.
The circuit, which will be located one more year on the Camino de Murcia, will be completely fenced and marked to avoid that the spectators are thrown on the participants.
This year, this circuit will present novelties that will make it more fun and playful.
The boxes, where will be the reception of cars starting at 10 in the morning, will be installed in the Corner of the Convent, where the exit will be located and where the cars will be launched from 12 noon.
The characteristics of the participating vehicles, which can be adapted to unimaginable shapes and designs using all kinds of materials, must be handcrafted and must be moved by the force of inertia, making it impossible to install pedals or motors.
Crazy cars should live up to their name, because they will reward, in addition to the speed, imagination and creativity of the participants.
The prizes increase this year in a special way, increasing, particularly, the economic amount of the awards section to originality.
Likewise, there will be more special prizes for the participants in the event, as well as more gifts for the attending public, among which tickets will be raffled, for example, tickets to Terra Natura, the pool and the spa bath of Archena Spa, toys.
Gómez and Del Baño thanked in a special way the collaboration of around 80 sponsors, between companies and establishments, "without which it would have been impossible to make a further edition of the test and improve many aspects of it."
