The Community finances this year with about 100,000 euros for victims of gender violence in Cieza (21/02/2018)

The general director of Women and Equality of Opportunities, Alicia Barquero, opened today in Cieza the exhibition 'Cuídate', which includes the photography work carried out by young people belonging to the group of adolescents of the Center for Attention to Victims of Violence of the CAVI Mar Less.

The authors participate in the 'Program of prevention and intervention in affective relationships in the courtship with young adolescents' that has been developing since 2011.

The Ministry of Family and Equal Opportunities this year will allocate 97,000 euros to finance care for victims of gender violence, through CAVI and tutelage shelter, in the municipality of Cieza.

"It's about serving the victims and working on the prevention of this scourge," said the director.

"The photographic exhibition is an idea that is born of young people and that is for young people, that is why we are taking it to institutes in the region, it is a great way to reach them, to talk about gender violence, and an opportunity to To address some of the themes that the exhibition envisages, we encouraged the exhibition's visit by expanding the areas of intervention, working with adolescents as equals, promoting dialogue, "explained Alicia Barquero.

The idea came from the teenagers, after several sessions of work on the importance of self-care and the good relationship with themselves.

The talks dealt with the different forms of damage as a result of a toxic relationship (eating disorders, drug use, self-reproach, emotional dependence) and spoke of the 'myth of love', among others, also addressed the different forms to take care of these situations.

The initial proposal was to use the body that we damaged and mistreat to launch messages of self-care and good treatment, for that reason, snapshots are used in which the girls are the protagonists.

The exhibition fulfills a double objective: artistic, as a way of visualizing situations that are framed within their daily experiences, and therapeutic for young women who have been able to see themselves in toxic situations, of physical and psychological mistreatment.

The exhibition, which is itinerant, is combined with student awareness workshops.
