UPyD on Monday attended the dialogue organized by the Foundation in collaboration with Los Alamos Association of Friends of the Saharawi people, on its "Holidays in Peace" in which, among others, attended the Polisario Front representative in the region of Murcia, Mohamed Labat, who said the Holidays in Peace program is an act of solidarity, which results in the placement of children as ambassadors of the Saharawi people.
In this dialogue, addressed various aspects of the program, highlighting the situation of the same, as at present, the contributions of both the councils of our region and of the Autonomous Community of Murcia, have been reduced considerably.
In this sense, the available places for children in the region have been reduced to 155, among others, collaboration by the City of Cieza recently was 3,000 euros, 1,000 euros now gives the program "Holidays Peace. "
All these are effects of a crisis that there are people drowning and struggling against the very members of the Association of Friends of the Saharawi people to their contributions both financial and material.
The cost of the program this year is around 83,000 euros of which 90% is for the payment of transportation of children to our country, as the airline operating in this location, have excessive costs, which together with administrative difficulties and other movements cause the Association is the need to shoulder much of the costs.
Even with all these efforts, the requirements for children to access the program have been increased, leaving out children between eight and nine years with everything that entails, vaccines, malnutrition, etc., as expressed in the minutes one of foster mothers.
Different members of the Association discussed the need to sign a multi-year agreement with the city of Cieza that allows them to perform various organizational projects.
Antonio Rojas, president of the Association in the town of Cieza reported that the cooperation from the city had been reduced by more than 60% so that the Association will have to perform a greater number of fundraisers.
Union, Progress and Democracy would like to thank the organizers of the event your invitation, and take this opportunity to make clear, once again, their total support and commitment to the cause of the Saharawi people and also denounce the situation of deprivation of liberty and civil rights afflicting the Western Sahara, and the status of the refugee camps in southwestern Algeria.
Similarly, UPyD denounces the neglect by government is suffering the people of Western Sahara, which ignores the continuous human rights violations by the military and police forces of Morocco.
UPyD Verdejo Oscar Cieza, recalled, that these events are happening a few kilometers of the Canary Islands and Spain still has an ethical and political responsibility with Western Sahara, as the decolonization process will not end until the Saharawi had decided his fate freely through a self-determination referendum.
UPyD continues to insist that "according to various opinions of the UN, Spain is still legally Territory administrative power and therefore can not ignore what is happening there."
