And it is recognized as Protected Area Wildlife and Natural Protected "Almadenes Canyon"
The environmental organization stated in its letter that both the Tourism Consortium Almadenes, as the City of Cieza, were aware that the single authorization which had was expired for three years, and that there were a number of conditions for construction and commissioning of the via ferrata that were violated repeatedly by both entities
From Ecologists in Action explained that "not only the authorization had expired, has also worked in the canyon walls within the breeding season of Bonelli's eagle [3], which is totally prohibited in the Management Plan for this area. And has been put into service via ferrata no control over quotas, no hits, no timetable ... has generated a real problem that did not exist in one of the most unique and fragile natural areas in the region. A real nonsense. "
The environmental organization denounces in particular the conduct of the Councillor for Tourism in office at the time, Matias Rios (PP) who last June inaugurated the ferrata [4] way to the media, and made walking the path with a group of people invited, when its use is prohibited outside the period from August to November period.
And they lament that "has only cared about the photo, the inauguration of works ahead of the last election. And for that they have not hesitated to execute without authorization in violation of the regulations of use of this protected area."
In its brief, Ecologists in Action calls on the General Directorate opening an information package for investigating the responsibilities that may be incurred by the responsible Almadenes Tourist Board and the City of Cieza.
And calling to proceed with the dismantling of the via ferrata, since it is impossible to establish surveillance and control measures to ensure the proper use of it to meet the criteria and restrictions established at the time by the Directorate General of Environment.
