Councillors Environment Calasparra and Cieza, Ricardo Garcia and Jose Eduardo Illueca, met Wednesday morning with the aim to plan joint actions in environmental policies affecting the two municipalities.
The central theme of the meeting was the opposition of the respective municipalities for use in them, better known as fracking hydraulic fracturing techniques.
On this issue, the two councilors have been fully agreed on the need for joint action, and, moreover, on whether to initiate contacts with other municipalities affected by the projects that have been launched in North the region.
The idea would be to show a united front of opposition to fracking, both in relation to companies and with governments that have authorized the commencement of exploration for an initial evaluation.
The idea would be "to establish a first contact with affected municipalities to see the possibility of coordinating actions to expand after this goal to all civil antifracking platforms that have become the Murcia region in order to collect all possible contributions and promoting broad social mobilization, with the institutional support of the municipalities ".
During the meeting, other issues, including recovery plans for the forests affected by fires this summer, and also highlighted "the need to address the issue of pipelines that run submerged under the waters of treated Cenajo Swamp, creating a situation intolerable ecological risk has been repeatedly denounced and can not allow to be forgotten, the intention would be that before the end of the first quarter of next year quedase outlined a course of action in this area " .
"Take the Right Steps to recovery of the devastated areas by fire and promote social debate on fracking are the priority actions" they have pointed out the two councilors.
Regarding the latter, "the goal is to have concrete results in the next two months as completely unknown which is being the result of evaluation surveys that there are authoritative and at what stage they are."
