It is an initiative promoted by the Municipal Plan of prevention, monitoring and control of absenteeism and dropout in Cieza 2015-2018 which aims to detect cases of truancy, guide the population on existing resources in the municipality and to value education, both from the point of view as social.
Councillor for Social Welfare, Cristina García-Vaso, announced the launch of the First Municipal Truancy Prevention Campaign and Dropout aimed at students, teachers, professionals related to children and adolescents, families and citizens in general.
In his speech he explained the cornerstones of this initiative is part of the Municipal Plan of prevention, monitoring and control of absenteeism and dropout in Cieza 2015-2018 which aims to promote the educational advancement of students and promote academic success, promoting coordinated action of all the institutions involved.
In his words, "it comes to prevention and awareness work both individually and at the community level."
García-Vaso encouraged all stakeholders to work together to eradicate truancy, "a common work of all administrations requires a common effort of all professionals. Although already for years been developing interventions in this area in a coordinated manner, it is now necessary networking, so that for the first time a joint operation is performed from the parameters of globality, comprehensiveness and complementarity ".
He also recalled "the multiplicity of causes which causes absenteeism, forcing us to give joint responses exceeding the simple sum of actions of the different administrations, directing us to the set of design intervention projects".
Referring to the municipal plan by Red Cieza Children it stood unanimously approved during the last council meeting of October 4 and approval of the Municipal Commission of Truancy.
The campaign began with awareness talks aimed at teachers who have been taught by technicians RESP program.
It has also done the same with parents as described in the above program.
They are, along with the commemoration of the International Day of the Rights of the Child on 20 November and the conference Emilio Calatayud, Judge of the Juvenile Court of Granada, on December 11, some of the planned activities.
Another agreed actions consist of a series of lectures to raise awareness among students of 5th and 6th graders from schools in the municipality, in which information about the importance of attendance and its relationship will be offered with their personal, professional and social future.
They will be taught by social workers and agents of the local police.

Coordinators in schools of the town, attended the ceremony held Wednesday in the Plenary Hall of the City of Cieza, along with the councilors of Education and Finance, Manuela Fernández and Antonio Ignacio Martínez-Real, respectively, and municipal technicians of the Department of Social Welfare, received information about the actions to be taken.
The presentation was published in the act in which we proceeded to the delivery of the prizes of the drawing contest organized to develop promotional resources of such a campaign.
Thus, the award for best slogan went to Pilar Camacho, the Mother of the Divine Pastor school.
As for the drawing category, the winner was Manuel Egea, Christ Crucified school.
Finally, the author of the winning poster was Ana Maria Rubio, the IES Diego Tortosa.
