Cieza Mayor meets with the regional president of the Spanish League for Education (12/11/2015)

The Mayor of Cieza, Pascual Lucas, was visited in the city of the president of the Spanish League for Education and Popular Culture in the Region of Murcia, María José Fernández Shopkeeper Wednesday.

This working meeting served to present the work of this NGO on immigration, employment training, youth, childhood and support to public school.

Shopkeeper Fernández focused both on the national trajectory as in the specific work of this NGO in the region of Murcia, which has spent many years developing immigration projects, job training, youth, childhood and support to public school, among other tasks.

The Spanish League for Education and Popular Culture is a non-governmental organization, independent and secular character, created in 1986 to serve common objectives of general interest.

Today is formed by a network of volunteers and professionals who provide social, educational, welfare, or compensatory time off to promote civic education of youth and adults based on democratic values, human rights and social solidarity services.

It is an organization structured by the principle of secularism, clearly understood as a pact of coexistence and tolerance among citizens solidarity, free and equal, so that they can fully exercise their citizenship and contribute to establish a more just, free society solidarity.

Through programs of socio-educational and cultural intervention in priority sectors such as childhood, family, youth, immigration, public schools, education for citizenship, international cooperation, the League arrives every year directly and indirectly more than two hundred thousand people who benefit from these services.

So education, citizenship and solidarity are guiding the actions aimed mainly at groups at risk of social exclusion living in both rural and urban areas where there is cooperation to promote local development.

In the homes of children and infant schools now represent 23 open centers and working actively in more than 12 locations where more than a thousand children from 0 to 3 years come to them.

Educational mediation extends to more than 4,000 families with relational difficulties or cohabitation.

It also has meeting points and facilitators areas of family relationships in which out socio-educational and community animation projects, public awareness campaigns and the creation of intercultural spaces where coexistence are promoted through intercultural open classrooms are carried , literacy classes and immigrant support centers.
