The departments of Education and Culture of the City of Cieza, within the activities to be organized in collaboration with the University of Murcia on the occasion of the installation of the permanent seat of the educational institution in the city, in front of which, as responsible , will Piedad Fernández Toledo, present the exhibition 'Women at the University of Murcia, presence, visibility and participación'.La opening borne by the mayor Cieza, Pascual Lucas, Carmen Gonzalez and Concha Pando (curators of the exhibition) will take place this Friday, November 20, in the Municipal Library Padre Salmeron at 19.30.

The event, will be attended, among others, Francisca Moya, first ciezana university professor, and Eva Maria Rubio, director of the Unit for Equality of Women and Men of the UMU and Piedad Fernandez Toledo.

The exhibition will run until 4 diciembre.El rector of the University of Murcia, José Orihuela, he referred to the sample expressing thanks "to the Unit for Equality between Women and Men, in particular, to the curators of this exhibition, Concha Pando and Carmen Gonzalez, rigorous historiography with which they have designed an exhibition that includes milestones and evolution of presence, visibility and participation of women at the University of Murcia. Their study of archival sources, hemerográficas and oral, with seventy-five interviews with pioneering colleagues in our community is an example of a thorough investigation and never made so far. Indeed, with all the information analyzed, have managed to make a didactic exhibition and quickly understandable manner showing intuitive reality in full transformation. "

Orihuela added that "the exhibition shows that the progress made is important, but that much remains to be done, and showcases many times counted few facts. For example, it has come to my attention the fact that, for the first time, women entered to higher education with the launch of the Women's Normal School opened in 1860. And that was our first female professor Maria Moliner, the great Spanish lexicographer, which will name the main library at the University of Murcia " .
