The Department of Social Welfare welcomes, says through a press release by the significant amount of food collected almost 20,000 kilos.
Cieza City Council, through its Department of Social Welfare, reported that this year 2015 in Cieza, as in the rest of Spain, has increased in large numbers the amount of food collected in the National Campaign 'Great collection Food ', driven by the Safe Food Bank.
As already reported, "last weekend, 27 and 28 November, this coordinated campaign was carried out in our municipality by the City of Cieza in collaboration with Caritas and Red Cross."
Social workers report that "more than 120 volunteers helped collect nearly 20,000 kilos of nonperishable food, which have been designed to fill the pantries of Caritas and the Red Cross in the city for the coming winter months, and will be distributed among the neediest families in the city during these difficult times. "
Councillor for Social Welfare, Cristina García-Vaso, wanted to take the opportunity to "thank all ciezanos and ciezanas for their contribution and solidarity with this campaign and also stores all contributors and their employees for giving spaces for this collection of food ".
