The Minister of Social Policy, Women and Migration, Joaquín Bascuñana, and the Mayor of Cieza, Antonio Tamayo, today signed a collaboration agreement to improve the infrastructure of the Centre for Services for Women Victims of Domestic Violence (CAVI) and the group home that exists in this county.
Through this collaboration agreement, the Ministry, through the Institute for Women, allocated 56,000 and 36,000 euros, respectively, for the improvement of the two resources mentioned.
Responsible for Social Policy said that since his department has set as one of the main aims of the struggle against gender violence and the implementation of initiatives and resources to effectively eradicate this social evil.
Also recalled that during the coming year 2009 will complete and extend the network of CAVI in the region, currently comprised of twenty schools.
Bascuñana added that "the regional government is working to ensure the safety and care for women who have suffered gender violence, both to themselves and their children."
Thus, CAVI and the group home are two resources for the protection, counseling, psychological care and accommodation for victims.
Finally, Bascuñana insisted that spare no efforts in the fight against gender violence, "because for us it is a priority."
