The Minister of Culture and Tourism, Pedro Alberto Cruz, met with the Mayor of Cieza, Antonio Tamayo, to learn about different activities and projects carried out in this county and approve new subsidies for the construction and improvement of municipal facilities .
Among the topics discussed at the meeting that the director described as "fruitful", are the rehabilitation of the Capitol Theatre, with a grant from the region of 11 million euros.
Construction will begin before the summer and is expected to be completed in 2011.
With them, explained the Minister of Culture, "will complete one of the most important cultural processes that have been made in Cieza.
Another issue discussed was the expansion of the Conservatory of Music Maestro Gómez Villa, for what use the building opposite to it.
This project was done by a multi-year agreement until 2010, which will alleviate "one of the main problems in this county."
It also approved the grant of 1,700,000 euros, of which 1,200,000 correspond to the Autonomous Community for the site of Medina musealization Siyâsa.
In addition, the Ministry has committed to moving exhibitions of Visual Arts department and the Cehiform, the new city library, which opens next Thursday.
As regards tourism, the Ministry will assist in the rehabilitation of the House of the Knights, the town's oldest building, dating from the thirteenth century, for the creation of an inn.
This project will include a grant of 1,200,000 euros, for which have already been awarded 39,000 euros.
With this work "the deficit will be remedied in Cieza tourist accommodation," he said Cruz.
