Participants will present the status of their research and work related to the improvement of varieties of peaches as well as progress in improving and other prunus rootstocks, such as apricot and Japanese plum.
After each exposure time will be devoted to discussion of papers.
On Saturday, the Ministry has organized visits to a farm trails and a central shopping area horticultural Cieza - Abarán, for participants to experience first hand the characteristics and conditions under which production takes place Murcia peach: fertigation , type of commercial varieties and new selections, crop management, harvesting and fruit handling, and traceability of production, among others.

IMIDA director, Adrian Martinez said that Murcia is the first peach-producing province in Spain (municipalities in the Altiplano and Vega Media) with an estimated production for 2009 of 273,000 tonnes, of which 100,000 tonnes for the town of Cieza, which is the main producer of peaches in the region.
