Valcárcel sculpture opens Toledo tribute to the painter Cayetano Puche, Salvador ciezano sculptor Susarte
The President of the Autonomous Community, Ramón Luis Valcárcel, today placed the first stone for the rehabilitation and expansion of the Capitol Theatre in Cieza, entailing a total investment of over eleven million (11,171.818 euros), funded entirely by the regional administration.
The deadline for execution of works is 21 months, so that ciezanos will enjoy this new flagship theater in 2011.
With this upgrading, the Capitol Theatre will seat about 900 spectators.
The project includes the construction of a main room with capacity for 700 people, equipped with the best acoustics for theater and music, and a second room for 195 viewers.
This last room is located on the main entrance with separate entrance, offering the ability to schedule several shows at once.
Thus, with the rehabilitation and expansion, the Capitol has become the second most important theater in the region for their ability.
The head of Murcia, Cieza accompanied by the mayor, Antonio Tamayo, said that the theater, which has been concerning urban, social and cultural life of this town since the 50's, will enter the national tour after its opening, will offer ciezanos shows first order and help revitalize the cultural life of the municipality.
The project, the architect Horacio Fernández del Castillo, preserves the old facade of the building, providing access to the smallest room, but have a second input of new construction, street Pablo Iglesias, much broader.

This building was opened in October 1955 and, since its opening until its closure in the early 90s, was the major cultural landmark of the city and area.
Cieza City Council decided to purchase the property in 1994 for permanent reopening to the public as municipal cultural space.

Moreover, the president of the Community opened today in his visit to the town of Cieza sculpture in tribute to the painter ciezano Cayetano Toledo Puche, who died in 1998.
A sculpture donated to the town by Caja Mediterráneo (CAM).
The sculpture by local sculptor Antonio Susarte, was placed in the plaza of the Spanish Parliament and with its recognition of the important career of this painter who throughout his career he won many national and international awards and participated in painting important exhibitions including the Venice Biennale.
Since 2004 the Municipality of Cieza, with the Association 'Village and Art' of the town, called by the Toledo International Painting competition Puche.
