Adif invest a total of 68,306 euros to carry out improvement work station Cieza (Murcia), located in the standard gauge line linking the capital with Chinchilla Murcia and Albacete.
Work will include improvements in the chapter on conventional network performs Adif to facilitate accessibility to all users of the railway.
These actions are carried out under the Station Modernization Plan launched by the Ministry of Development as a means of stimulating the economy.
Under this Plan, ADIF is carrying out actions for continuous improvement of facilities and infrastructure of the conventional wide network, with the aim of offering its customers a higher quality and better accessibility features, safety and comfort.
The key activities will include the following:
Construction of new toilets adapted for people with disabilities.
Air conditioning in the lobby of passengers by air conditioners.
Treatment and rehabilitation of the station environment, cleaning of entrances, tree pruning and fill slopes.
According to the protocol of universal accessibility of rail services in 2012 Adif stations allow full independent access to rail services to 90 percent of passengers and will reach full coverage by 2014.
This plan ahead in six years the deadline set by European and Spanish legislation to achieve universal access in this mode of transport, initially scheduled for 2020.
In this sense, most of the planned measures are under development throughout 2012.
