The educational program 'Discover English', presented Tuesday by the councilor of Museums, Giménez María Antonia Bell, born in 2003 with the aim of spreading the wealth of museums available in the Region of Murcia through guided tours and representation English plays within these learning spaces.
In this project are included Salzillo Museum of Murcia and the Museum of Siyâsa in Cieza.
Following the presentation, students of IES Las Salinas de La Manga have opened the visits to stays Siyâsa to learn history while practicing English.
The educational program is organized by the Directorate General of Training and Educational Innovation for secondary schools in the Region of Murcia that are assigned to the bilingual sections.
The work prepared for the Museum of Siyâsa is represented by a regional theater group and is set in S.
XIII, during the conquest of Andalus Murcia by the Castilians.
Visitors will find on stage a character wearing clothing of that era, Cedric Walls, a mercenary in the service of the Castilian king, who is in the Muslim population Siyâsa a young woman named Aixa who, about to leave home shows the mercenary environment.
All work is conducted in English and often make references to students to participate.
The visits take place between February and May, in groups of about 50 students.
Applications must be made from the school and be sent to the Ministry of Education and Culture within the period specified in the annual publication of the educational program in the BORM.
In 2003 and 2009 about 9,000 students of the Murcia Region requested a tour of the educational program 'Discover English'.
